Shotgun Cinema is a New Orleans-based non-profit film operation run by old friends of mine who share a mutual love of the Talking Heads. When they screened Jonathan Demme’s legendary concert documentary, Stop Making Sense, I jumped at the opportunity to design the event poster.

Drawing inspiration from the same lyric that inspired the cinema’s name, I combined the floor plan of a duplexed shotgun shack with the iconic silhouette of David Byrne’s oversized suit jacket, which he sports throughout the film.

I’m told that Demme himself caught a glimpse of the poster and requested a copy, making my short list of career highlights.
